About Us
Access Community Health Centers is one of a family of more than 1,200 national health centers nationally that provide care to more than 20 million people across the United States. These community health centers are local, non-profit providers serving low income and medically underserved communities. They provide primary medical, dental, mental health, pharmacy, and other services based on a community's needs.
Also known as Federally-Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), they are located in areas where care is most needed, and improve access for millions. Since 1965, expansion of federally supported health centers has created affordable health care for 20 million people, with responsibility placed on consumers based on their ability to pay. FQHCs costs of care rank among the lowest, and their focus on prevention reduces the need for more expensive in-patient and specialty care. This vision, and a model that maximizes local charitable resources, saves billions of dollars for taxpayers.
